On December 13, 1932, the artist Anatoly Ivanovich Mittov was born. He was a Chuvash artist, a painter and a graphic artist, a creator of truly national Chuvash fine art.
He studied at Cheboksary Art College and at the graphic faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. After returning to Cheboksary Mittov had taught for two years at the Art and Graphic Faculty of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University named after I.Ya. Yakovlev, later he collaborated with the Chuvash Book Publishing House.
The works of A. I. Mittov, which had an innovative form and a deep philosophical sound, invariably aroused deep public interest and rejection from the conservative public. Having become a candidate for the Union of Artists of the USSR in November 1868, only in 1970 he became its full member. The membership card of the Union of Artists No. 13984 was issued shortly before the artist's death, in mid-July 1971.
The name of A. I. Mittov was given to the secondary school in the village of Toburdanovo Kanashsky district Chuvash Republic, a boulevard in Cheboksary is named after him. On December 13, 2012, celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of his birth were held in the artist's homeland. A large-scale anniversary exhibition was launched at the Chuvash State Art Museum, which included well-known works of the master, previously not exhibited works from the collection of heirs, archival photographs, as well as memorabilia. The scientific conference " «Creativity of A. I. Mittov and modern trends in the art of Chuvashia“ was held. Based on its materials, a collection of scientific articles was published.
